This piece is representative of my days as a professional illustrator living in the Detroit, Michigan. If I've said it once I've said it a million times, if you work in Detroit there's more than a good chance you'll be working in some way, shape, or form for the car industry, the real irony being I hate drawing cars. I did this piece for a tiny little ad company, tentatively looking to hire me on full time. I had just finished up and was in the final stages of negotiations, (Read: Waiting for them to make the offer.) When out of the blue I got a call from a company out of Cambridge Massachusetts, offering me a job making video games on the East Coast. Needless to say I promptly packed up my bags and moved to Boston... At the time of this writing, that was three years ago and funny enough, I haven't drawn a car since. |
